Autum is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), solution-focused behavioral therapy (SFBT), trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT), and play therapy. Elizabeth is a licensed psychologist who aims to provide a caring, person-centered approach while delivering effective and high quality evidence-based psychotherapy.
Elizabeth has expertise in providing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and often incorporates concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical and Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help treat individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment to major life changes, and/or general stress. She has specialization in the area of behavioral medicine and is passionate about addressing physical health problems that are closely associated with emotion and behavior (e.g., sleep problems/insomnia, weight management, and smoking). She believes in partnering with her clients for decision-making and incorporates use of motivational interviewing to facilitate behavior change that is client-centered.
Elizabeth has prior experience working in medical settings where she focused on supporting individuals living with chronic illness (e.g., diabetes, chronic pain, heart disease, etc.) or life limiting conditions (e.g., cancer, ALS, Parkinson's) that may impact quality or quantity of life. Elizabeth has additionally worked with individuals at end-of-life and their families and loved ones through the grief journey. Her overarching direction is to help people pursue health and meaning throughout the course of their lives.
She received her doctoral degree (PhD) in clinical psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University with a concentration in behavioral medicine. Her predoctoral internship was completed at the Palo Alto VA Medical Center with an emphasis in behavioral medicine and she additionally completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Milwaukee VA Medical Center in palliative care psychology. She has worked with adults of all ages and various backgrounds. With regard to multicultural awareness, she appreciates the ADDRESSING framework as one method for considering the multifaceted aspects of identity and privilege for herself and her clients. She celebrates diversity and welcomes feedback so that she can better adapt her treatment approach to your individual needs.
Though she can’t help herself from bringing up psychology-related topics everywhere she goes, Elizabeth’s life would not be complete without her passions for music and spending time in nature. She most enjoys watching live performances, playing piano and flute, going on hikes with her family, reading/watching sci-fi, doing crossword puzzles, and snuggling with her dog. Elizabeth provides all care virtually via telehealth.
